According to the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary TIME can be defined as what is measured in minutes, hours, days, etc. It can also mean a season or an indefinite period (usually marked by specific attributes or activities)
BUSINESS on the other hand can be defined as the activity of providing goods and services involving financial, commercial and industrial aspects usually for profit making.
It may be every cumbersome if not impossible for anyone to separate these two variables due to the intertwining nature of their existence. The cause of so many business failure may not necessarily be lack of managerial prowess by the managers of such business, but by their inability to manage a very essential aspect of the business know as TIME. Therefore the importance of time management in business operations cannot be overemphasized. Hence a critical look at some of the advantages of time management in business.
TIME MANAGEMENT EASES STRESS
When time is well managed, there will be every possibility for you to be stress free, reason being that you will be meticulous in apportioning time for every activity you may wish to engaged in. However, this will require a great level of discipline in terms of knowing the right time to stop a particular activity for the other, because time is never enough.
IT BOOST CUSTOMERS' CONFIDENCE
When your customers know that you are a time conscious person, they will automatically believe in your ability to deliver on your promises at any time. Looking around our environments today, we can easily name some businesses whose operations and service delivery are synonymous to disappointment, frustration and deceit. When it is the time for them to deliver services, they will tell you come today, or come tomorrow. All in the name of their inability to manage their time effectively. If you have had such experience before, then you will agree with me how devastating and frustrating it could be.
IT PROMOTES REFERRALS AND FREE MARKETING
Free marketing is a situation where a customer who enjoyed your services or products goes about advertising and convincing other people to patronize your business without a fee. When you manage your time very well and deliver on your promises, your customers will have confidence to refer other potential customers to your business without you paying anything for it. (This is not to undermine the importance of advertising).
IT INCREASES PROFITABILITY
There is a popular slogan that says "TIME IS MONEY" of a truth that slogan is very correct. More customers to a business means an expansion of such business which will eventually brings increase in the profitability level of that business. For instance, you have about five places to deliver your goods or services, but due to improper time management skills, you were able to make delivery in three places at the end of the day, then you can imagine how much money you may have lost in the process. That will really tells you that TIME IS MONEY.
IT GIVES PROOF OF INTEGRITY
Every prospect to a business will be sceptical of patronage at the initial stage until the owner or the managers of such business proof to them that they are good managers of time before they can win their trust and be seen as people with integrity when it comes to time management. A man who cannot be truthful with time, may not be truthful in any other thing assigned to him.
IT KEEPS THE ACTIVITIES OF ANY BUSINESS IN CHECK
Every successful businesses today have their periodic projections, and the profit positions of such businesses in the next three months, six months, one year and five years etc can be clearly determined due to periodic performance review aimed at critically assessing the growth level of such businesses. This will boost productivity and enhance performances.
SUCCESSFUL MANAGERS ARE BETTER TIME MANAGERS
Show me a successful business manager or outfit, and I will show you a person who does not joke with time management. Time management is very essential in the operations of any business. Be it in the production, distribution or services delivery, time will always play a pivotal role in the accomplishment of any task. Entrepreneurs, employers and employees alike should always discipline themselves to achieve a better turnaround in their businesses.

CONCLUSION
Though there are other countless advantages relating to time management, but due to time and space constraints, we may have to transfer those ones to the next edition. In today's business environment, there is no such thing as "African Time" this is because Africa does not have a different clock from the universal clock standard and we cannot operate in isolation. If you are guilty of improper time management skills, then the time to make a decision is now. We must not be trapped or be found wanting when it comes to time management. This is the new way to go because THERE IS TIME FOR EVERYTHING.
